Peak Chemical Industries Limited (An ISO 9001 : 2000 certified
company ) is the pioneer having technologies from Regional Center
for Organic Farming, Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture,
manufacturing unit of liquid and solid based bio fertilizers, biocontrol agents and biopesticides in Eastern India. PCIL have set
up a modern biotechnology laboratory with soil testing facility at
Siliguri and strains are isolated from local environment for best
results and cultured in the state of the art laboratory for making
different formulations. With their old products such as Orgathea
(organic manure), Sputnik–7 (plant micronutrients) and Pragati
(plant growth promoter), PCIL now capable of feeding the need of the
eco friendly crop culture like Tea and Field crops of the region. A
comparison between Solid based (powder) and Liquid formulations of
bio products, their usage and dosages of PCIL products are given
below :
Comparison between POWDER based and LIQUID
formulations of
Bio fertilizers & Bio pesticides
| Limitations of POWDER |
Advantages of LIQUID |
| Shorter self life – 3 to 6 months |
Longer self life – 1 to 2 years |
| Sensitivity to temperature |
No effect of high temperature |
| More chances of contamination |
No contamination |
| Not rainfast |
Rainfast, as it contains sticker |
| Poor cell protection, 106 cells / gm can not be
maintained more than 3 months |
High populations can be maintained more than 109 cells /
ml up to 2 years. |
| Even under less contamination in packets the enzymatic activity of
beneficial bacteria is disturbed |
Very high enzymatic activity since contamination is nil |
| Dosage contradictory to farmers & generally high |
Dosage is 10 times less than powder based formulations & cost
effective. |
| Labour intensive in the field |
Easy to use by the farmers |
| Poor moisture retention capacity |
No such problem with liquids |
PCIL bio products are available in water based liquid form and
with different pack sizes such as 50 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml & 1
ltr to suit every consumer.
Applications of biopesticides as prophylactic or on low pest
population, are always better for controlling pests and help to
avoid ill effects of synthetic chemicals. The success of
biopesticides lies on use as per advise, at the right time, right
location and with appropriate equipment and procurement from
reliable sources.
Spray Techniques for the Biocontrol agents / Biopesticides:
- Spray while sufficient moisture in the atmosphere & soil.
- Spray while there is minimal sunshine and high humidity.
- Wash spray machines and containers before spray.
- It is not to spray or broadcast of any fungicide or
bactericide before and after 2 days in case of liquids and 7
days in case of powders of spray or tank mix unless it is
compatible.
- Repeat the application as and when required.
- Entire contents of the pack should be used in one time to
avoid contaminations.
- Both low & high volume sprayers can be used with NMD
nozzles.
Role
of Bio fertilizers in Tea
- Curtails the requirement of inorganic fertilizers.
- Increases availability of nutrients.
- Gives 20 – 50 kg of Nitrogen and 30 – 50 kg Phosphate &
Potash in a year per hectare.
- Liberates growth promoting hormones, vitamins; helps to
improve soil fertility.
- Suppresses incidence of pathogens; secretes antibiotics to
control diseases.
- Increases tea yield by 30 – 50 %
- Economic & ecofriendly.
