The northern part of West Bengal being the major tea- producing centre about 181 thousand hectares of such activities. Analysis of fertilizer consumption pattern in India shows that the requirement of organic-fertilizer is at least 80 kilograms per hectares with a gradual increase to manifold.
The availability of natural resources and favourable agro-climatic conditions with its location advantages make North Bengal a major area for market-oriented cultivation of both general and organic varieties. A scientific method of Agri-business specifically at the farm-level is the need of the hour if the industry requirement is to be met.
