Research & Development

Peak Chemical Industries Limited (PCIL), having technologies from Regional Centre for Organic Farming, Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture, is the pioneer manufacturing unit of liquid and solid based bio fertilizers, bio-control agents and bio-pesticides in Eastern India. At PCIL, we have set up a modern biotechnology laboratory with soil testing facility at Siliguri and strains are isolated from local environment for best results and cultured in the state of the art laboratory for making different formulations. With our old products such as Orgathea (organic manure), Sputnik–7 (plant micronutrients) and Pragati (plant growth promoter), we are now capable of feeding the need of the eco friendly crop culture like Tea and Field crops of the region.

Based on our continuous research process & its subsequent development, a comparison between Solid based (powder) and Liquid formulations of bio products, their usage techniques, dosages & certain specific roles of PCIL’s products has been charted out below -

Comparison between POWDER based and LIQUID formulations of Bio fertilizers & Bio pesticides
Limitations of POWDER
  • Shorter self life – 3 to 6 months
  • Sensitivity to temperature
  • More chances of contamination
  • Not rain fast
  • Poor cell protection, 106 cells / gm can not be maintained more than 3 months.
  • Even under less contamination in packets the enzymatic activity of beneficial bacteria is disturbed.
  • Dosage contradictory to farmers & generally high.
  • Labour intensive in the field
  • Poor moisture retention capacity.
Advantages of LIQUID
  • Longer self life – 1 to 2 years.
  • No effect of high temperature.
  • No contamination.
  • Rain fast, as it contains sticker.
  • High populations can be maintained more than 109 cells / ml up to 2 years.
  • Very high enzymatic activity since contamination is nil.
  • Dosage is 10 times less than powder based formulations & cost effective.
  • Easy to use by the farmers.
  • No such problem with liquids.
Spray Techniques for the Bio-control agents / Bio-pesticides:
  • Spray while sufficient moisture in the atmosphere & soil.
  • Spray while there is minimal sunshine and high humidity.
  • Wash spray machines and containers before spray.
  • It is not to spray or broadcast of any fungicide or bactericide before and after 2 days in case of liquids and 7 days in case of powders of spray or tank mix unless it is compatible.
  • Repeat the application as and when required.
  • Entire contents of the pack should be used in one time to avoid contaminations.
  • Both low & high volume sprayers can be used with NMD nozzles.
Role of Bio fertilizers in Tea
  • Curtails the requirement of inorganic fertilizers.
  • Increases availability of nutrients.
  • Gives 20 – 50 kg of Nitrogen and 30 – 50 kg Phosphate & Potash in a year per hectare.
  • Liberates growth promoting hormones, vitamins; helps to improve soil fertility.
  • Suppresses incidence of pathogens; secretes antibiotics to control diseases.
  • Increases tea yield by 30 – 50 %.
  • Economic & eco-friendly.
